Relationships, oh how I drink of thee!

Sometimes you get some people in your life that are like milk. For the short time they are in your life, they are fresh, beneficial, may even make you stronger. Then they reach there expiration date, that is when they become old, stale, and spoiled...and you don't even want to go near them, let alone fix your lips to drink of it.

Then, you may have some like Kool-Aid. They are cheap, easy to make and/or please...but when you are really trying to impress the world you don't want to bring them around. But yet and still they are always there for you, simple, not asking for much. They will always be there to "quench your thirst", with you putting in the least of amount of time, money, and effort.

Don't forget about the coffee type of relationships, the most difficult. Those are the ones you run to when you need a boost. When its good its good, but its only a matter of time until it causes you to burn out, and everything comes crashing down. Yet, you keep going back for more.

Let's not forget about the water. Those are the types that are damn near necessary. Whatever the occasion, whatever the case, they always prove to be beneficial. Their safe... you can take them practically everywhere. Around family, friends, teachers, hell, you can even through them in your Kool-Aid. They might not have the best taste, they may not even be the most appealing, but there dependable. Problem is, everyone can get to them....and your just too damn selfish for that.

Oh yeah....the soda...you pick: Pesi? Mountain dew? Sprite? Your favorite. When you first open that bottle, it literally pops! That is how good it is to you. You can drink this anytime, anywhere as well. Only difference is, it taste damn good! However, give it some time, that fizz, that pop...becomes flat. It doesn't spoil like milk so you throw it away....it just becomes flat. And you may sit it in the fridge hoping for it to bring its life back, but the taste will never be the same as when you first bought it. Then, you may even try to throw some ice cubes in it....still not the same. Bottom line, you wait and wait for this one to change, but it was always true to its package...delicious, and savory in the beginning...FLAT overtime. Its your choice whether to keep this one, because even after the expiration date it still may have a little flavor....maybe if it comes in a glass bottle you'll keep it as a collectors item, show it to your kids.

Finally, you have those relationships that are like your bottle of fine wine. If we are lucky, we'll come across this. They are authentic, beautiful, tasteful, and classy. Know just what to say, and do; even at the worst of times. Looks fine at any occasion, and yet, they get better with age. No matter how long they hang in your chest, cabinet, or even fridge, they never loose there delectable taste, they're classic and refined. These are the kind you hope for, you wish for....this drink right here....is your soul mate

The American Nightmare

So I was thinking.....

Has the "American Dream" turned into a nightmare?
Is the white picket fence, the nice car, house, dog, two kids named Joe and Jane, and beautiful wife merely an unattainable dream?
Who was asleep when this dream occurred? Bill Gates? Donald Trump? Because it definitely couldn't have been me.
Being a Business student, I hear about the recession every lecture. In my marketing class, my professor often speaks about how people are cutting cost, their not too worried about that Bentley or extra bathroom they don't need.
He talked about foreclosures too, you know, from those that are living beyond their means to spend money they don't have, to buy things they don't need, and impress people they don't like, or know for that matter.
Why do all of these things matter? Who said that these materialistic things had to be attained in order to define success?
Oh, I remember....that damn dream.
That damned white picket-fence-10-bedroom house-2 kid-1-dog-beautiful wife......dream.
People steal, kill, lie, manipulate, abandon, and destroy for this dream.
People cry, hurt, panic, overdose, die to LIVE this "dream".
So I ask again...who was asleep when they were having this dream?
Could it have been Lincoln, or Washington, or Nixon?
Because I'm sure it wasn't me, Malcolm, Truth, or Douglass.
Someone told me they had a dream of what America stood for, and I believed them.
When is the last time you up and decided to live someone Else's dream?
Wake up from America's nightmare.....live your own dream.
